The large brass collet nut is knurled to assure the diver of a solid grasp and acme threads prevent binding from mud or other debris insuring quick reliable rod insertion and retention. Interchangeable collets accommodate 1/4, 3/8 or 5/16 inch diameter cutting rods, and use of available welding collets allows the BR-22 to be used as a welding electrode stinger.
